The new addition for the Irish gigs is another LED light, this time with a spinning series of coloured beams that activate with sound triggers. This fills the walls and ceiling of a venue with a constantly changing display.
I have always thought that it is important to have some kind of lighting to make a gig feel special, but in the past that has meant dealing with hot lights, broken bulbs and heavy equipment. With the new LED lights I can have a really effective system that uses hardly any electricity, produces virtually no extra heat and is very bright and effective. The best thing is that these new units are small and not at all heavy, so setting up is much easier. I used to turn up with a pair of huge T bar lighting beams, each one with four car headlight sized bulbs on. The heat was intense.
What I would really like is some way to get some battery powered lighting onto the guitar, that would be really cool!
